This College Board site provides information regarding finding colleges and paying for college, as well as an interactive plan-making engine. It also includes specifics about majors and careers, and how to find one that’s right for you.

Colleges that Change Lives

This site, based on Loren Pope’s popular Colleges That Change Lives, is a leading advocate on the subject of higher education access and college choice. CTCL prioritizes schools that give students a personalized and transformative collegiate experience. The site has useful articles about the college application and admission process and highlights CTCL schools.

The Education Conservancy

Established in March, 2004, The Education Conservancy (EC) is a non-profit organization committed to improving college admission processes for students, colleges, and high schools. By harnessing the research, ideas, leadership, and imagination of thoughtful educators, EC delivers appropriate advice, advocacy, and support.

NACAC

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) is an organization of nearly 16,000 professionals from around the world dedicated to serving students as they make choices about pursuing postsecondary education. NACAC offers tips for college prep, a college search engine, advice about applications, and info about paying for college and succeeding in college. In addition, NACAC organizes college fairs.

Unigo

Unigo.com combines student college reviews with student-produced videos to give users a real-time glance of the look and feel of a college. If you are unable to visit a college of interest, check out Unigo. However, keep in mind that reviews are often personal and subjective, so keep an open mind when visiting the site!

The University of Illinois’s College and University Rankings 

This University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign site gives an overview of the various college ranking services (complete with URLs) including U.S. News and World Report, Forbes, Kiplingers and Princeton Review to lesser known ones such as College Factual and Black Enterprise’s Top College for African Americans.

College Results Online

College Results Online (CRO) is an interactive web tool designed to provide information about college graduation rates for nearly any four-year college or university in the country. With their advanced search engine, you can compare graduation rates for a group of colleges that you select based on specific student and institutional characteristics.

College Confidential

College community discussion board populated by anxious seniors applying to college and even more anxious parents. The minute-by-minute posts can be highly addictive, especially around acceptance periods, but be careful not to get sucked into the mania!
